BP Gives Unlimited Behind-the-Scenes Access to One Woman, Who Says BP’s Response is Fake: Clean-Up Equipment Taken Away as Soon as Officials Leave

BP has been given unlimited access to all BP operations and meetings to a Louisiana shrimper’s wife named Kindra Arnesen.

As Yves Smith notes:

Arensen appears to have been invited in because she got media coverage earlier in June when CNN covered her efforts to organize wives of Gulf fisherman over concerns about the safety of working on oil cleanup.

In a must-watch video, Arnesen says:

• BP is given advanced warning when an official is going to show up to any place where there is oil. All assets are deployed. As soon as the official leaves, 75-80% of the assets are removed. BP calls it a “pony and balloons” show.

• “We are expendable to these people. We do not matter.”

• They’re not cleaning it up, they’re covering it up.

• BP is making it impossible for clean-up workers to wear respirators.

• She saw hundreds of thousands of fish dying, so disoriented by the oil that they crashed into her boat.

• There is a media blackout.

• If the country does not stand up and say “no more”, this will go global. All of the world’s oceans are connected. If not stopped, it will destroy one-third of the world’s water.

NASA Flight Director Confirms 9/11 Aircraft Speed As The “Elephant In The Room”

06/22/2010 – (PilotsFor911Truth.org) Recently Pilots For 9/11 Truth have analyzed the speeds reported for the aircraft utilized on 9/11. Numerous aviation experts have voiced their concerns regarding the extremely excessive speeds reported above Maximum Operating for the 757 and 767, particularly, United and American Airlines 757/767 Captains who have actual flight time in all 4 aircraft reportedly used on 9/11. These experts state the speeds are impossible to achieve near sea level in thick air if the aircraft were a standard 757/767 as reported. Combined with the fact the airplane which was reported to strike the south tower of the World Trade Center was also producing high G Loading while turning and pulling out from a dive, the whole issue becomes incomprehensible to fathom a standard 767 can perform such maneuvers at such intense speeds exceeding Maximum Operating limits of the aircraft. Especially for those who research the topic thoroughly and have expertise in aviation.

The airplane was UA175, a Boeing 767-200, shortly before crashing into World Trade Center Tower 2. Based on analysis of radar data, the National Transportation and Safety Board reported the groundspeed just before impact as 510 knots. This is well beyond the maximum operating velocity of 360 knots, and maximum dive velocity of 410 knots. The possibilities as I see them are: (1) this wasn’t a standard 767-200; (2) the radar data was compromised in some manner; (3) the NTSB analysis was erroneous; or (4) the 767 flew well beyond its flight envelope, was controllable, and managed to hit a relatively small target. Which organization has the greater responsibility for acknowledging the elephant in the room? The NTSB, NASA, Boeing, or the AIAA? Have engineers authored papers, but the AIAA or NASA won’t publish them? Or, does the ethical responsibility lie not with organizations, but with individual aeronautical engineers? Have engineers just looked the other way?

Israeli team says it has developed software to spot depressed bloggers

Inventors say program could enable mental health workers to identify individuals in need of treatment and recommend they seek help.

(HAARETZ)   Israeli researchers have developed software that claims to identify depressed bloggers by analyzing their writing.

The program scours blogs for words and phrases, descriptions and metaphors that can indicate the writer’s psychological state.

The software’s initial test run, which was part of a research study headed by Professor Yair Neuman of Ben-Gurion University’s department of education, combed more than 1,000 blog posts written by American bloggers that were online in 2004.

As part of the research, the software was asked to determine what it perceived as the 100 “most depressed” bloggers and the 100 “least depressed.”

Neuman told Haaretz that the software diagnoses largely matched those of four clinical psychologists who made their own diagnoses based on the blog posts.

“We found an 80 percent match between the automatic identification mechanism of the software and the human diagnosis given by the psychologists,” Neuman said.

“A psychologist knows how to spot various emotional states through intuition,” he said. “Here we have a program that does this methodologically through the innovative use of ‘web intelligence.’”

Neuman said the software could enable mental health workers to identify individuals in need of treatment and to recommend that they seek help.

“What does all of this mean from a practical standpoint?” he asked. “First of all, it shows that the technology is here and available and that it could be put to use.”

“In the United States there is a wide-ranging problem with depression,” said Neuman. “Through this software it will be possible to contact a blogger and request a general examination of the contents of his blog. If the blogger agrees, he will know whether he needs to seek professional counseling for any possible distress.”

Neuman said the researchers had received permission to analyze the blog posts.

The research and development for the software was funded by the Defense Ministry, yet Ben-Gurion University officials said yesterday the project would not be used for military purposes.

The program is capable of spotting words that express various emotions, like the names of colors that the writer employs to metaphorically describe certain situations. Hence words like “black,” if combined with other terms that describe such symptoms of depression as sleep deprivation and loneliness will be recognized by the software as “depressive” texts.

The software can also spot love and vengefulness (or at least thinks it can ).

Men who write prose laden with imagery from nature as well as words like “fire” or “lightning” could be determined by the program to be in love, as could women citing poetry or words related to music.

“The software does not rely on a single context-dependent word, but on a series of words strung together, terms and images chosen by the writer,” said Neuman.

Neuman cautioned against utilizing the technology for corporate purposes.

“I will not be pleased if this is put to negative use, like advertising for a certain product,” he said. “But I am all for using it as a means to spot cases of emotional distress.”

Disaster capitalism is the way of the entire country right now.  Employers large and small are taking advantage of the dismal economic climate and they are padding their profit margins by rolling back pay rates and benefits for the average working man. It’s an all out assault on the standard of living of the blue-collar worker that I personally have seen growing in popularity over the past 24 years. Working Americans undermining other working Americans, literally stealing food right off their families tables, in order to achieve “just a little more” profit for themselves.  I’ve seen good men, men who refused to sell-out their workforce, have to shut down their businesses because the scourges who are competing with them can underbid them by utilizing their ‘off the books”/less than minimum wage workforce.  What has resulted is a kind of reverse natural selection where only the corrupt and morally weak survive and thrive in this new neoliberal Miracle of America.

I thought I had seen it all… til this.

BP is hiring contractors to come in and run the clean-up operations. BP of course is a British company but by and large, the sub-contractors in charge of all the clean-up workers are American companies. And you would be surprised what Americans will do to other Americans when the almighty dollar is involved.

The workers are desperate, coming from all over. Companies are filing their charters and rushing down to get a piece of the action. There is confusion and chaos all over the place and in that kind of environment, hidden from view of the MSM by mandate of law, you’re going to get all kinds of terrible behavior from these unseen companies toward their desperate employees.

Modern Labor camps

BP is busy setting up what amounts to labor camps in the Gulf states. Trailer cities are being constructed to house and lock-in the clean-up workers. They will be bused from these camps to the job and back again, day in and day out. Private mercenary contractors are being contracted to “police” these camps. Fences are constructed to keep the workers from slipping out after a long day’s work. The company stores promise the bleed the workers of their paychecks (what little they actually get) and laundry facilities are being set up by other contractors so that they can charge whatever they like to do their laundry.

These trailers will house 36 or so clean-up workers living stacked one on top of the other in the summer heat of the Gulf of Mexico… no alcohol will be allowed into BP City. I am sure it won’t be long before Wal-Mart and Burger King work out some way to put a temporary facility in the middle of this location.

The men and women who come to the Gulf looking for work have no idea what they are in for. They are being promised work at a fair rate of pay but these stories, stories about these living conditions just aren’t making it to the headlines of the MSM all across the country. CNN did a story about this “city” being built but they made it seem like it was not that bad; like being in the military or something.

They also set up what were called ”flotels“… barges with metal shipping containers stacked on top of each other housing 20 or so workers per container. They are still being used now. Not much is known about these as the company and the complicit Obama administration haven’t allowed any media coverage of them. But word slips out and the picture is actually of one of these flotels.  Can you imagine what is going to be like in the middle of the summer? How soon til their little AC unit goes out?

These are work camps, nothing more. They are disaster capitalism in its purist and most savage form. Everyone makes money… the contractors making these things, the contractors running them, the contractors putting the clean-up workers in them, and the “policing” mercenary contractors hired to keep the workers in line and subdued.

Everyone makes money… everyone but the actual workers that is.

For the past two pay periods, Louisiana-based Ashland Services LLC, the labor contractor he works for, has given workers the same story. “Every pay period, they blame the late payments on the payroll company. But of course they don’t tell us the name of the company; that’s because it’s a lie; payroll companies don’t make those types of mistakes.”

“Last week there was almost a riot,” he added. “They have 600 people to pay and they only had 28 checks,” he said. “They had to call in the buses early and get everyone back to the tent city where we’re staying before it got out of control. They told everyone that checks would be waiting for them there but that was a lie too.”

BP gives the companies that hire cleanup workers a lump sum for the job, based on how much they think it will cost, he said. “They just bank the cash and pay the workers late to get some extra off the top.”

Some workers have been fired before the end of the pay period, without getting a single paycheck or having enough money to get home. When this happened to one worker, her fellow employees, not the contractor, took care of her. “We all pooled in enough money for her to buy bus tickets back,” said the worker.

“It’s just chaos down here,” he said. “We’ve had people working for weeks, and all of a sudden they’re told they’re not even hired; Ashland says they have no record of them working and don’t have their work applications. People are told to re-file applications over and over. They find every possible way to scam you out of your pay.”

“One girl I work with was told to re-file her application five times. This is a contracting company; how can you lose that many applications? How can you not take care of your people?” he said. “It’s not like it’s getting better, it’s getting worse.”  WSWS

This system is being set up with the intention that it will be around for a very long time. Think about it… all these contractors being spoon fed big-time money are in charge of the actual clean-up… so what is their motivation to get this spill cleaned up as fast as they can? They have none. Their motivation is money and the money STOPS when the oil is cleaned up. At that point they are out of business so what is their motivation to actually clean up the Gulf?

And what is the motivation for the Obama administration? This clean-up process takes people off the unemployment rolls right before a contentious mid-term election, it supports BUSINESS and generates profits for big construction companies and the people who own them. In fact, what has happened to all that inertia to stop the leak which is now reported to be pumping 100,000 barrel a day into the Gulf of Mexico? Where did all that go after Obama’s big speech?

The Gulf is hemorrhaging, the wildlife is dying, the lawyers are jockeying for position at the handouts table, and NOTHING is being done to stop this nightmare.  13 different countries offered to send help within the first 3 weeks and ALL OF THEM were refused flat-out.  Why?

Because THIS is what they wanted; never let a good crisis go to waste.

Barack Obama’s administration actively sacrificed the welfare of the Gulf of Mexico in order to allow a crisis to grow so that it could be EXPLOITED by various business interests. And that says nothing of how his administration is attempting to USE this situation to further his GLOBAL WARMING (opps… I’m sorry… what are we calling it now that we all admit the “warming” stopped in 2001? Oh that’s right… CLIMATE CHANGE… got it) and carbon tax/carbon credit derivatives exchange market agenda.

“Obama’s Katrina”?  You gotta be shitting me.

Katrina was an unavoidable natural disaster that lasted hours and then the Bush administration allowed the SUFFERING to continue in order to drive up profits for certain companies. Yes, the levies should have been fixed years before, but once that storm developed, it was a little too late to do anything about it. Yes, they should have evacuated the poor from the 9th ward, but we all know how much Bush just LOVES the poor.

But the Deepwater Horizon spill is a MAN MADE event that didn’t have to take place that is STILL POURING MORE OIL INTO THE GULF and devastating the ecosystem as we speak while NOTHING is being done except generating profits for various slimy characters while exposing thousands of workers to dangerous conditions and treating them like slaves on a plantation. In fact, it is pouring MORE oil into the Gulf now than it was when it first happened.

The long and short of it is that these workers, desperate to find ANY work in this economic crisis created by the bankers and the government ON PURPOSE, are being forced to slave away in modern-day labor camps and it is going to get worse before it gets any better. The public attention span is going to fade out as the election draws nearer or some other American Idol season starts up… and when that happens, when the scant attention these poor desperate people are receiving now dwindles, the corporations and the labor contractors will step-up their abuse in the quiet of the “pro-business” atmosphere created by the neoliberal Washington Consensus.

And god help us when the other corporations see how easy it is to get away with behavior like this.  It’s like when Bush got away with all his and Cheney’s crimes they committed during their administration. Now Obama and his staff fully expect to push the envelope even further and still get away with it as well.  Corruption, exploitation, and malfeasance is a degenerative condition; there is no reason to expect it to get better if there is no accountability for what has happened in the past.

This is the Miracle of America in our new Neoliberal Age, taking shape right before our eyes… and we are doing nothing to stop it.

UPDATE- The latest containment effort just made the situation worse.  A robotic sub just bumped into a vent and ruptured it causing an even greater flow rate spilling out into the Gulf.  BP is “investigating” what happened.

One clean-up worker has been shot to death with no details as of yet reported and the other death is also a mystery right now.

BP has pulled the containment cap off the drill site in the Gulf, and now oil is flowing at a faster rate than before.  Raw Story

… The deaths reported Wednesday were not tied to the containment operation. The Coast Guard said the workers had been involved in cleanup operations did that their deaths did not appear to be work related.

One death was a boat captain who died of a gunshot wound, a Coast Guard spokesman said. Further details were not immediately available. MSNBC

US Government web site psyop promoting depleted uranium munitions [updated]

This propaganda is expertly crafted to avoid directly stating that Depleted Uranium (DU) munitions are as safe as tungsten, while belittling the (valid) belief that DU is incredibly dangerous, and implying that the reader thinks the sound of the term “depleted uranium” is scary because it’s a big scientific word, or something to that effect– not because we know that DU and all forms of uranium are highly toxic.

But what would we expect from the same government that thought it was ok to feed plutonium and other radioactive metals to pregnant women and children?

As a powerful force in society, the military is naturally feared, and fear plays a major role in conspiracy theories.

Uranium evokes very powerful fears. It is associated with atomic weapons, mass annihilation, radiation sickness, cancer and birth defects. Depleted uranium evokes these same fears, despite the fact that it has been depleted of much of its radioactivity. Fear-based associations can be more powerful than logic and facts. Compare how you feel about tungsten to how you feel about depleted uranium. Both are heavy metals, but “depleted uranium” might sound scarier to you.

Yes both uranium and tungsten are heavy metals, but they have very different properties and toxicity.  DU bullets burn on impact, resulting in a spray of molten metal and radioactive dust that contaminates surrounding soil and water for over 4 billion years (the half-life of DU).

Uranium is incredibly dense– 2x denser than lead, which makes it ideal for heavy bullets to penetrate armor.  It’s also used to make armor, by sandwiching a layer of DU between sheets of steel. The US military has used DU munitions and armor extensively in the Middle East and Bosnia, with incalculable cost to the health of local populations and the world.

Spent tungsten bullets just sit there and slowly oxidize. Tungsten is also dense, but very hard and not incindiery. It does not disintegrate and ignite on impact like DU, and most importantly, it’s not radioactive.

DU is in fact much more dangerous than tungsten.  It may be depleted of most of the highly radioactive isotopes of uranium, but it is still radioactive enough to cause cancer and birth defects [Radiation hazards of DU- Wikipedia] [Human lung study, PubMed]. Not only is it carcinogenic (causes cancer) and teratogenic (causes birth defects), it’s also chemically toxic to human and animal tissue [Rothstein 1949] [Jacob 1997] [Stokinger 1953] [McDonald-Taylor 1992] [Kurttio 2002].

The issue here is that it’s more effective at penetrating armor than tungsten, and the US government doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the health of its own military, let alone innocent children.

This America.gov “conspiracy theory” propaganda is sophomoric, but that doesn’t make it any less offensive.  The genes of entire populations are being irrevocably harmed by the release of thousands of tons of toxic nuclear waste (literally), contaminating land, water, and air.  This is truly the definition of genocide. The damage will be generational.  Effective clean up will be impossible with current technology.

Indian Children Blinded, Crippled By Fluoride In Water

Growing awareness of mass medication of public with deadly neurotoxin leads to establishment backlash

The controversy over adding sodium fluoride to water supplies in both the U.S. and the UK is intensifying as two separate stories out of India reveal that children are being blinded and crippled partly as a result of the neurotoxin being artificially added to drinking water.

In the Indian village of Gaudiyan, well over half of the population have bone deformities, making them physically handicapped. Children are born normally but after they start drinking the fluoridated water, they begin to develop crippling defects in their hands and feet.

“Due to the excess fluoride content in drinking water, the calcium intake is not absorbed in the body, causing disabilities and deformities,” said Dr Amit Shukla, a neurophysician.

“Sijara, a 35-year-old woman who is also afflicted, said the problem started around 30 years ago and gradually gripped the entire village,” reports Express India. “Now, you hardly find a person without the deformities. People in the village die at a relatively young age,” added Sijara whose three sons also have physical deformities.”

Government doctors have denied that fluoridation of drinking water is to blame, but have refused to test the water, insisting such tests are “not necessary”.

Meanwhile, in the village of Pavagada, 180 km from Bangalore, children are going blind after being diagnosed with Lamellar Congenital cataract — a condition wherein the eye lens are damaged.

“Alarmed by the pattern in eye diseases among children in Pavagada taluk and the increasing cases of blindness, Narayana Netralaya, in collaboration with Narayana Hrudalaya and Shree Sharada Devi Eye hospital and Research Centre in Pavagada, has begun one of the largest studies on eye disorders involving 29,800 children,” reports the Times of India in a piece entitled, Blinded by tradition and fluoride in water.

The doctors attribute the child blindness to two factors – consanguineous marriages and the “fluoride content” of the drinking water.

Christopher Bryson’s widely acclaimed book The Fluoride Deception includes dozens of peer-reviewed studies showing that sodium fluoride is a deadly neurotoxin that attacks the central nervous system and leads to a multitude of serious health problems. This fact has been covered up by a collusion of government and industry who have reaped financial windfalls while illegally mass medicating the public against their will.

Perhaps the most notable study was conducted by Dr. Phyllis Mullenix Ph.D., a highly respected pharmacologist and toxicologist, who in a 1995 Forsyth Research Institute study found that rats who had fluoride added to their diet exhibited abnormal behavioral traits.

A 2008 Scientific American report concluded that “Scientific attitudes toward fluoridation may be starting to shift” as new evidence emerged of the poison’s link to disorders affecting teeth, bones, the brain and the thyroid gland, as well as lowering IQ.

“Today almost 60 percent of the U.S. population drinks fluoridated water, including residents of 46 of the nation’s 50 largest cities,” reported Scientific American’s Dan Fagin, an award-wining environmental reporter and Director of New York University’s Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program.

The Scientific American study “Concluded that fluoride can subtly alter endocrine function, especially in the thyroid — the gland that produces hormones regulating growth and metabolism.”

The report also notes that “a series of epidemiological studies in China have associated high fluoride exposures with lower IQ.”

“Epidemiological studies and tests on lab animals suggest that high fluoride exposure increases the risk of bone fracture, especially in vulnerable populations such as the elderly and diabetics,” writes Fagin.

Fagin interviewed Steven Levy, director of the Iowa Fluoride Study which tracked about 700 Iowa children for sixteen years. Nine-year-old “Iowa children who lived in communities where the water was fluoridated were 50 percent more likely to have mild fluorosis… than [nine-year-old] children living in nonfluoridated areas of the state,” writes Fagin.

The study adds to a growing literature of shocking scientific studies proving fluoride’s link with all manner of health defects, even as governments in the west, including the UK, make plans to mass medicate the population against their will with this deadly toxin. Most Americans already drink artificially fluoridated water.

In 2005, a study conducted at the Harvard School of Dental Health found that fluoride in tap water directly contributes to causing bone cancer in young boys.

“New American research suggests that boys exposed to fluoride between the ages of five and 10 will suffer an increased rate of osteosarcoma – bone cancer – between the ages of 10 and 19,” according to a London Observer article about the study.

Based on the findings of the study, the respected Environmental Working Group lobbied to have fluoride in tap water be added to the US government’s classified list of substances known or anticipated to cause cancer in humans.

Cancer rates in the U.S. have skyrocketed with one in three people now contracting the disease at some stage in their life.

The link to bone cancer has also been discovered by other scientists, but a controversy ensued after it emerged that Harvard Professor Chester Douglass, who downplayed the connection in his final report, was in fact editor-in-chief of The Colgate Oral Health Report, a quarterly newsletter funded by Colgate-Palmolive Co., which makes fluoridated toothpaste.

An August 2006 Chinese study found that fluoride in drinking water damages children’s liver and kidney functions.

Growing opposition to fluoridation of water supplies in light of this evidence is contributing to a scaling back of water fluoridation programs, with voters in places like Mount Pleasant calling for the amount added to be reduced.

With awareness about sodium fluoride on the increase, the establishment is now moving to demonize anyone who raises the issue as a dangerous lunatic. In an official press release today, the Fluoride Action Network slams “recent mischaracterizations of fluoridation opponents by political pundits Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann and others in conjunction with Senator Harry Reid’s Nevada re-election campaign.”

As we wrote earlier this month, Keith Olbermann sardonically attacked Nevada primary winner Sharron Angle for speaking out against water fluoridation, “because she thinks the fluoride might be poison.”

Amidst his sophomoric jibes, Olbermann failed to explain why, if fluoride isn’t a poison as he claims, the word “toxic” is written on the packaging of bags of sodium fluoride that are dumped into the water supply of many Americans.

Sodium fluoride is a Part II Poison under the UK Poisons Act 1972. FACTS ABOUT FLUORIDE

- Fluoride is a waste by-product of the fertilizer and aluminum industry and it’s also a Part II Poison under the UK Poisons Act 1972.

- Fluoride is one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin nerve gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUoride).

- USAF Major George R. Jordan testified before Un-American Activity committees of Congress in the 1950’s that in his post as U.S.-Soviet liaison officer, the Soviets openly admitted to “Using the fluoride in the water supplies in their concentration camps, to make the prisoners stupid, docile, and subservient.”

- The first occurrence of fluoridated drinking water on Earth was found in Germany’s Nazi prison camps. Bank Runs and Bread Lines – FDIC $21 billion in debt

“The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. on Tuesday published the latest bleak prognosis for the fund it runs on behalf of bank depositors. The FDIC added a quarter to its estimate of the time it will take the fund to recover, marking the third time in two years that its so-called restoration plan has gotten stretched.

The FDIC said the fund, which is under water by about $21 billion amid a surge of bank failures, won’t reach its statutory minimum funding level (1.15% of insured deposits) for at least seven years. Even if the economy somehow muddles through the Gulf oil disaster, the still-gathering euro crisis and who knows what else, the FDIC’s estimate puts a full deposit fund recovery off till the first quarter of 2017, all else equal.

But this being regulatory reform season, all else is most definitely not equal. Congress, beseeched by small banks and small businesses alike, is preparing a grabbag of giveaways that will push the FDIC fund’s recovery out an additional two quarters — unless the FDIC again raises the fees paid by insured banks, a step it prefers to avoid with unemployment near 10%.

Or maybe it is just that Congress can’t say no to any proposal that entails spending other people’s money.”

Nuke that thing now

I’ve been saying this for months.   This is our only option.  We need to nuke that well before it kills every living thing in the gulf.   All these stupid plans they keep coming up with are designed to tap it and minimize financial losses for BP, but that shouldn’t be a priority.

The chances of a significant methane eruption are low.  It’s in the middle of the ocean.  We need to evacuate any islands in a wide area and nuke it shut.   Ruptured wells, including gas wells, have been nuked in the past.  It’s the safest and best option.
